13 Sep. 2026 Gayemarie Brown Show me the WAI: Why AI creates abundance for non-profit Sep. 13, 2026 Speaker Gayemarie Brown and Current Club President Show me the WAI: AI as a tool for abundance Largely because of my work over the last six or seven years, AI is the topic I get asked about more than any other — at the office and at our luncheons — and the questions are almost always some version of "should I be worried?" I've spent my career helping organizations answer that honestly, and several of you, along with friends across Rotary, have asked me to bring that answer to our club. So here it is. Last week, a researcher resigned from a leading AI lab warning that the industry is "gambling with our lives." Ninety million people read it in a day. Congress scrambled. And somewhere between the headlines and the hype, the real story got lost. Here's the question this talk answers: if AI is so dangerous, why are the people closest to it the least afraid — and what do they see that the rest of us don't? Why Me? My day gig, as the founder of Wintam Place Advisory, Consulting & Coaching, I guide corporate ventures, newco's, and 0-to-1 launches through AI and growth strategy. As an early adopter my work led Forbes to name me one of its Top 50 Female Futurists. I speak regularly on demystifying AI for business and civic audiences, and I promised many of you a version of this talk for our club. In thirty minutes, we'll separate the fear from the facts: why the "Terminator" story keeps getting told and who profits from telling it, how the cost of intelligence collapsed a thousand-fold in three years, and what that means for organizations that run on mission and volunteers from food programs reaching more families, crisis lines answering more calls, caseworkers getting more people the help they've already earned. Real organizations, doing more, not less. And I'll close with something that I am passionate about as a member of the International AI working group for Rotary: Rotary International writing a playbook for our members. The Four-Way Test, it turns out, was AI ethics all along.

19 Sep. 2026 Helpsy: Used Item Collection Sep. 19, 2026 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. SPREAD the word! In addition to helping the community, recycling, decluttering we at Rotary use this as a fundraising event. We are very lucky that the Scandinavian Center continues to let us use their parking lot to collect items. All dates are Saturday mornings from 9 am – noon. Volunteers required from 8:30 to noon. What is Helpsy? As a certified B Corp and Public Benefit Corporation, Helpsy's mission is to keep clothing out of the trash, provide honorable work, and earn growing profits. Helpsy collects, sorts, and trades secondhand clothes and shoes. In 2024 alone, the Helpsy team collected over 32 million pounds of clothes, shoes, and other items. The impact of their efforts speaks volumes: Counting only the clothes our customers sell at retail, we saved over 4 billion gallons of water and over 600 million pounds of CO2 emissions from new clothing creation. Paid more than $500,000 to charities and municipalities for bin placements, clothing drives, purchased materials, and as donations. 06 Oct. 2026 Meeting Speaker: Diana Stelin Oct. 06, 2026 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Diana Stelin is an award-winning artist, educator, author, and TEDx speaker whose work explores the role creativity plays in resilience, connection, and well-being. Originally from Moldova, Diana discovered art as a teenager navigating immigration and cultural transition, an experience that shaped her lifelong commitment to helping others access their own creativity. She is the founder of Plein-Air Art Academy and Diana Stelin Gallery in Brookline, where she develops arts programming for children, teens, and adults throughout Greater Boston. Her SPARK method, first introduced through her TEDx talk on creativity and burnout, has also informed programs for organizations including Google, AstraZeneca, and Ropes & Gray. As a professional artist, Diana has exhibited internationally, including projects connected with the Venice Biennale. She will present a talk titled: “Creativity as an Antidote to Burnout: How We Reconnect With Ourselves and Each Other.”
