The Rotary Club of Rotary Club of Newton asks the community to join with them in the fight to eradicate polio from our world.

When Rotary launched its PolioPlus program in 1985, there were over 350,000 cases of polio each year in over 125 countries. Today, polio have been reduced by 99% in the number of infections worldwide, with only India, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan remaining with infections. "Although the cause is an extremely serious one," stated Newton Rotary Club President Marie Presti, "our members and community at large I am certain, will all take joy in knowing that October 24th of 2009 has been set aside to insure that children throughout the world are inoculated. "We want the people of the community to understand the seriousness of this cause and feel really great about supporting it" added Presti. . Contributions may be made at the Moto Photo store in Newton Centre at 739 Beacon Street in Newton Center or by sending a check made out to the Newton Rotary - Polio Plus and send to the Newton Rotary at 719 Washington Street, Newtonville, MA. 02460.
